What to Bring
Use the information below to help prepare for your trip! If you have any questions about additional items to bring, please contact us!
Please note: To help us identify with the culture, we request you do not wear make-up or jewelry (except for wedding bands) while in Mexico.
Essential Items
- Bible
- Passport or passport card
- Sleeping bag
- Bedding
- Sleeping pad
- Air mattress (optional)
- Air pump (optional)
- Battery-operated camp lantern
- Flashlight
- Comfortable work clothes (long pants, t-shirts - no shorts or sleeveless shirts allowed on work sites)
- Sturdy work shoes or boots
- Hat, visor, and/or bandanas
- Clothes for camp (jeans, cropped pants, shorts, t-shirts, sleeveless shirts - all OK for campsite)
- Jacket and/or sweatshirt—morning and evening weather is cold
Shower Items
- Towels and washcloths
- Swimsuit (mandatory for showers)
- Toiletries, sandals/shoes to wear in the shower
- Solar shower (optional)
Miscellaneous Items
- Sun block, Chapstick with sunscreen
- Wet wipes, face wipes, Kleenex
- Sunglasses (2 pairs)
- Water bottles (2 per person)
- Camera (if disposable camera, write your name on it).
- First aid items such as Tylenol, Neosporin, Band Aids, Antacid, Feminine hygiene products, insect repellent
- Money - one dollar bills are sometimes useful.
Tools
Pack tools in a small duffel bag and check them with your luggage. Do not attempt to bring them on the plane as a carry-on bag. See Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Prohibited Items.
- Tool belt and/or nail pouch
- Hammer
- Wire cutters
- Sturdy gloves (leather are best)
- Hand square
- Hand saw
- 25' tape measure.
What not to Bring
- Please don't bring DVD players, CD players or electronic games.
- No need for any firearms, fireworks, or knives (with the exception of razor knives used for roofing).
- We prefer that you not bring any tobacco products with you to camp.
- No alcohol or non-prescription drugs are allowed at Family Camp.
- No power tools; everything is built with simple hand tools.
