Frequently Asked Questions

You have questions, we have answers:

How big of a group do we need?

To complete a house in four days we recommend bringing 15-18 people. However, any size group over five people can come down any time of the year, for any length of time.

When can we go?

We work year round in Baja California, MX (South of San Diego), Puerto Penasco (South of Arizona), Chihuahua, MX (South of El Paso), and the San Carlos Apache Reservation! (Except a couple days surrounding Christmas. Even we need a couple days off during the holidays.) Available trip dates to our other locations vary. Check out a full list of trip locations and availability.

What ages do you take and how much experience do we need?

Amor allows all ages and hammer swinging skill levels to participate—no experience needed! You will receive a building manual, and a staff member will be assigned to work alongside your group. Children under 10 come free!

Where do we stay?

You will sleep well (especially after mixing cement by hand all day) at our secure campgrounds at each Amor location, where camp caretakers reside 24 hours a day. Experience camping in tents, taking bucket showers and using outhouses to understand, in a small way, how the family you build for lives all year long. Amor believes that giving up the comforts of home for a week will help a group grow to know more about the life of the family for whom they are building a home for.

How much does the trip cost us?

An Amor trip is based on a per-person participation fee, the number of nights a group stays, and the number of days they plan to work (Trips to South Africa and San Carlos Apache Reservation are slightly different). A typical four day, five night trip costs $230 per person. To view our complete fee schedule click on the following link: Amor Ministries Fee Schedule

Can you do a VBS or other outreach?

Everything Amor does is to build up the local churches. We will help you work with a local pastor to put together an appropriate community outreach.
