San Carlos Mission Trip
We are excited to offer a new mission trip opportunity to build hope in San Carlos Apache Reservation!
Amor Mission Trips to San Carlos entail so much more than just building a home for a family in need. Your groups experience will include: Sweat. Outhouses. Joy. Apache Community. Family. Team building. Mud. Sore muscles. Bucket showers. New friends.
The Need
There is a need for over 1600 homes to be built on the reservation. Learn more about the needs of the people who live in San Carlos.
The Build Process
The process to build a home in San Carlos cannot be completed in a week-long trip. Each group will work on a portion of the house and move it gradually closer to completion. The home will be 28' x 24' and include 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom.
The San Carlos Amor Mission Trip is a pilot program we are still experimenting with different types of building materials to use. Potential work includes:
- Putting up the walls, cutting out the windows and doors
- Adding rough plumbing and electrical tubes
- Placing stucco on the roof and exterior and interior wall
- Touching up stucco
- Installing non-live electrical wires
- Painting the exterior and interior walls
- Installing doors
- Installing cupboards in the kitchen and bathroom
- Installing appliances
