My family and I are originally from Michoacan. Four years ago, my wife and I decided to move to Rosarito to pursue a better life and future f4or our children. Our oldest daughter Thaily is 8 years old, our son Eduardo is 7 years old, and our littlest, Alejandra, is 1 year old. It’s expensive to afford school for our two older kids; the students’ families are required to pay for transportation, supplies, uniforms, shoes, and more. We spent almost $250 just on my son’s school uniform last year.
I’m the lead singer of a mariachi band called “Sol de Mi Tierra,” and was first introduced to Amor when my band was hired to perform at Experience Mexico, a night where we are able to share our culture and music with the groups staying at Amor’s camp. I was introduced to Pastor Cesar [one of the pastors on Amor’s Ministry Planning Board] who heard of our need, and we were offered a house.
With the new house, our lives have changed a lot. My oldest daughter used to have respiratory complications, but she is currently receiving therapy and feels much better. Now that we don’t have to pay rent, we can also save more money to pay for our kids’ school expenses.
Our oldest daughter wants to be a teacher when she grows up. Our son has said that he wants to be in a mariachi band just like me, but I would love for him to be able to attend university so that he can have even more opportunities for his future. My wife and I love our children, and honestly our favorite thing is just to see our kids laughing. As long as they’re happy, we're happy!
After our house was built, Pastor Cesar has come back to visit us several times just to see how we are doing. He is always so positive, enthusiastic, and kind to our family. I also have enjoyed getting the chance to return to Amor's camp to share our culture and perform at Experience Mexico.
There are so many things I want to say to everyone that was a part of this. There is no way that I can thank you enough, and we are so thankful for each person who was involved.
